When the day comes that you need to start packing for your move there are some tips on doing it right. You of course want to make sure that you have the materials that are needed. You want to have boxes of all sizes, tape, and material for protecting items such as paper and bubble wrap and markers so you can make labels. These are all things that will make the process go smoothly while you pack and then while you are trying to unpack. This is also a time that people choose to go through what they have and make some changes. This can be what items you are choosing to take with you and the things that you want to donate or throw out. Be sure that you are careful about what you take with you so that you don’t pay to move items long distance that is unnecessary. This is also a great time to look at items that you want to make sure you leave behind because they pose a danger when packed and moved a long distance. Excalibur Moving & Storage outlines what items you want to leave off of your packing list when moving.
Do Not Pack Paint when Moving
When you are looking to move long distance you want to make sure that you use the space wisely that you have. The truck that will be moving your items you want to make sure that you don’t use it for things that you know you won’t keep. You also want to keep away from items that can be dangerous to move in a moving truck. One of the things that are on the no packing list are paints. You want to make sure that you leave your cans or paint and more importantly your spray paints behind. They are not something that you want to move because what is in the bottle can expand and they can explode when you are changing altitudes. The best option you have is to replace your paints when you arrive at your new destination.
When Moving, Do Not Pack Flammable Liquids
You also want to keep away from moving items on the moving truck that can be flammable. This will be fireworks, charcoal, lighter fluid and even aerosol cans of deodorant or hairspray to name a few. These liquids may be inside a truck for a long period of time. The problem is that the truck can become hot and when these types of things get too hot they can ignite. You want to place these items on your list to replace when you arrive.
Do Not Pack Perishable Food Items
You want to stay away from items that will go bad or die while being moved in a truck. Your house plants and food that is in the fridge and the freezer should be used or donated when you leave. If you place these items in a truck to be moved they can spoil causing a bad odor and this will make the other items in the truck smell bad as well.
